Watch the Finest Diversity of Performances in Southwest Michigan
Once in a while you come across an intimate theater that blows you away show after show. The Acorn Center for the Performing Arts is such a place. Housed in the historic Featherbone Factory, this 260-seat funky-industrial-chic performance venue has been bringing wowed audiences to their feet since 2001.
There is nothing cookie-cutter about its lineup of acts by known and up-and-coming musicians, actors, comedians, storytellers, playwrights and songwriters. No two shows are alike from January to December, so you will find choices you know you like or want to try.
You Will Love the Vibe
Audiences say over and over how much they love the high energy and the way artists become one with everyone there. You will, too. It’s fun being with people who share your tastes.
The Acorn ticket prices keep the arts within reach of almost everyone. Online tickets range from $15 to $60 plus fees — providing either general seating or guaranteed reserved seats up closer with optimal sight lines of the stage. In this size theater, wherever you sit, you become part of the show and the show becomes part of you.
Acorn Anywhere is a fun summer series where The Acorn performances pop up all over Harbor Country and beyond. Check the show schedule to see where the artists will perform — Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve, Indiana Dunes National Park, other familiar places and some you might not know exist!
The Acorn Tree House Summer Series is on the last Saturday of June, July and August. Enjoy uplifting family-together time that you can extend at a nearby beach or splash park.
Make It Dinner and a Show
There is an eclectic selection of dining choices within walking distance or a short drive from the theater. These nearby choices get high marks from locals and visitors alike — Journeyman Distillery, Staymaker Restaurant, and Grandpa Boo’s Kitchen. Or start your evening at Red Arrow Roadhouse, Brewster’s New Buffalo or The Stray Dog Bar & Grill.
When you arrive at the theater, there is a full cash bar with beers, cocktails and snacks.
Celebrate Special Moments
What you might not expect, The Acorn is a unique venue for weddings, showers, celebrations and corporate events. Create a memorable experience with the stage, movie screen and some of the area’s best professional sound, lighting and visual equipment. Scheduled shows also provide entertainment for family reunions and company outings. The Acorn is proud to be fully accessible so everyone can attend.
Play the Creative Connections Game for Prizes
The Acorn is one of the venues participating in the Creative Connections Game. When you arrive, show your game card brochure or pick one up at the theater and ask for The Acorn stamp. The more stamps you collect from Southwest Michigan creative venues between May 1 and April 30, the more prizes you can earn.
Plan for a Memorable Stay
The Acorn offers a rentable, short-stay industrial-chic apartment upstairs, but there are many more options in nearby Benton Harbor, St. Joseph and Stevensville. Staying over lets you explore the Makers Trail, beaches, natural areas, shops and other art venues. Make your reservations early to get the dates, amenities and rates you want. See you at the show!
