Day 1: A Romantic Half-Day
Spend a romantic afternoon and evening with your significant other in the gorgeous lakeside town of St. Joseph and the surrounding area. This adventure is for couples who are outdoorsy wine enthusiasts wanting to dedicate approximately half a day to spending quality time with one another. This itinerary will start and end in nature with a few hours to enjoy good food and wine in between.
Sarett Nature Center
Start your afternoon at Sarrett Nature Center! This beautiful place is the perfect spot to enjoy a low-key outdoor adventure. Sarrett Nature Center has nine miles of nature trails and provides community education for children and adults alike. Check out the indoor exhibits to see turtles, reptiles, and more. You can also birdwatch through the large windows. Take a stroll on one of the shorter paths, or enjoy a longer hike through the park. We loved the Lowland Trail, which is 0.93 miles long. The Butterfly House is another fun area of the nature center and is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Pro Tip!
Enter the nature center building and check in at the front desk. There is a $3 fee per person for a day pass.
12 Corners Vineyards
Stop by 12 Corners Vineyards for a wine tasting. There is a great variety of wine to try here for every palate, whether you love sweet or dry wines or something in between, you'll find it here! While sitting at the bar for your wine tasting, you can enjoy the pretty views out the window of the vineyards. We loved the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon wines but everything we tried was great!
Pro Tip!
Sit at the bar for your wine tasting for pretty vineyard views!
Vineyard 2121
Have a relaxing dinner at Vineyard 2121. There is often live music, and always great food and drinks, of course! This winery is very laid-back and casual in comparison to some other wineries. We loved our wood-fired pizza and chicken salad sandwich as well as our tastings. It is great fun to choose from their tasting options as they offer such a wide variety of beverages, and you can mix and match between wine, beer, and slushies. They also have a distillery, so the specialty cocktail list stands out too.
Pro Tip!
Try the wood-fired pizzas on Fridays and Saturday nights (from May-September).
Tiscornia Park
End the evening with a beach walk at Tiscornia Park in St. Joseph. Don't forget to pay for parking in the lot, then walk up the stairs to the beach. Here you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset together while admiring the gorgeous view of Lake Michigan and the North Pier Lighthouse. The sandy dunes and sounds of crashing waves make for an unforgettable and romantic setting.
Pro Tip!
Go at sunset for stunning views of Lake Michigan and North Pier Lighthouse.
