Are you looking for a fun date night? Want to get your kiddos started on cooking skills but know you shouldn’t be the one leading that lesson? Maybe you just want to learn how to make something new so you can switch up the dinner menu. The solution is simple: it’s time for cooking classes in Southwest Michigan! Choose from classes focused on young chefs, an easy lunch make, take and bake, homemade pasta, a whole holiday feast and more. Here’s where to sign up.

Perennial Accents

This downtown St. Joseph shop doubles as a place to hone your culinary craft with one of their weekly, 2-hour classes hosted by a local chef. Classes usually cost about $50 and include anything from a Valentine’s meal for two, New Orlean’s favorites and Irish meals to beginner-level Indian cuisine, quick weeknight dinners, a full Thanksgiving feast, pie making, charcuterie and Italian food. Check out their extensive schedule on their website to find a class that intrigues you! And keep checking back as class subjects change throughout the seasons and holidays. Reserve your spot by following the instructions online.

The Culinary Cottage

Though The Culinary Cottage is a new name to the local scene, the teaching and reputation of its owner are not! First known as Delicious Deliveries catering, a personal chef and a culinary instructor for 15 years, owner Tara Newman brings the fun hands-on cooking experience to The Market. A diverse collection of culinary talent rotates through this kitchen, offering unique techniques, styles and events. Featured dishes have been farm to fork, plant-based, baked, made-from-scratch pasta and more. Class price varies but ranges from about $50-75 in many cases. Choose to join a class on cold-weather comforts, vegan cooking, lunch take and bakes, cake decorating, thai and more! You can even bring your kids for a breakfast with Elsa and other children-focused cooking classes. Visit the Culinary Cottage website to see classes and sign up.

Host a private cooking event

Looking to have a private event? Maybe a cooking birthday party or a company outing or retreat? Bring it to these kitchens! Both The Culinary Cottage and Perennial Accents offer private events. Contact them individually to learn more.
