Chris Thompson Memorial Preserve

This 49-acre preserve features a diverse landscape of restored native prairie, mature forest, floodplain, and frontage along the Galien River. About 1.5 miles of natural-surface trails loop through the open fields and woods and follow portions of the river, allowing visitors to experience the property’s varied habitats. The preserve contributes to a larger corridor of protected and relatively undeveloped land along the Galien River, providing important habitat for plants and wildlife. Near the parking area, a pollinator garden showcases labeled native plants and attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators throughout the growing season.
