Chikaming Open Lands

Chikaming Open Lands (COL) is a local land conservancy dedicated to preserving the open spaces and natural rural character of southern Berrien County.

COL protects and restores native plant and animal habitats, improves water quality in our lakes, streams, and rivers, and permanently preserves ecologically significant forests, prairies, and wetlands, as well as farmland and other open spaces in our community.

COL owns and manages several open-access nature preserves with trails located throughout Berrien County. These nature preserves are open to the public, free to visit, and are accessible from dawn to dusk 365 days a year.  Enjoy a wide variety of activities, including hiking, birding, wildlife viewing, and more.
