Artist Justin Johnson, a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, created this mural for LiveBuchanan and the Buchanan District Library as part of the Art on Days public art initiative. Inspired by the Woodland or Legend Painting style of Great Lakes Anishinaabe artists, the piece reflects themes of balance, respect, and the spiritual connection between people, animals, land, and spirit, while honoring the cultural significance of the nearby McCoy Creek waterway.
