Member Show Opens at the Box factory
Event published by Box Factory for the Arts
The Box Factory’s Member Show showcases original works by more than 50 regional artists, all of whom are members of the Berrien Artist Guild. Approximately 100 pieces representing a variety of media will be exhibited in galleries on all three floors of the venerable, old building.
This year’s theme is “Remembering Songs from Youth.” Artwork relating to the theme will be installed together.
OPENING RECEPTION and OPEN HOUSE: 5:30 to 8 p.m. on NOV. 10
The public is invited, free of charge, to the Opening Reception on Friday, November 10, from 5:30-7 p.m. As a bonus, from 7–8 p.m., more than a dozen artists with active studios inside the Box Factory will open their doors for an Open House. Visitors can meet the artists and tour the creative, inner workings of their studios.
The evening’s festivities include a cash bar, refreshments, and soup from Tosi’s Restaurant.
A special addition to the Member Show is an exhibition by watercolorist David Jones. Born in London, UK, Jones emigrated to the U.S. and taught at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. His watercolors display his interest in the “loose” painting style found in traditional English watercolorists of the 20th century, as well as the quick, minimal brushwork of American painters Andrew Wyeth and John Singer Sargent. Jones lives in Portage, MI.
The Member Show runs from November 10 to January 14, 2024. Winter hours are Thursday–Sunday, noon–4 p.m. (until 6 p.m. Thursdays). The Box Factory is located at 1101 Broad St. in St. Joseph, MI.
