NEW! MINIATURES FOR SALE A new addition to this year’s exhibits is Miniatures 2024, a fundraiser featuring original works by regional artists. Artists of all levels and mediums were asked to “Give a Little Love” by creating 4-by-6-inch works of art for donation to the Box Factory.* These “miniatures” can be purchased for$30 each and taken home the same day, with proceeds going to support the Box Factory’s ongoing work in our community. Be the first to view them at the opening reception on Jan. 26. For details, see boxfactoryforthearts.org/gallery24 or call (269) 921-0071.
SERIES 1 2024 EXHIBITS
“She Said” Williams Gallery (main level)
“She Said” is created around a group of connected artwork by three women artists from South Bend, IN, who are inspired by the resilience and strength of women across time and place. The works span a range of materials from mixed media collage to prints and fiber art. Together, they form an exploration and celebration of female empowerment.
“Synthesis” Whitlow Gallery (main level)
Brooke Kartje and Maya Ankenbruck are recent graduates of Western Michigan Frostic School of Art, where they earned BFAs in Print Media. Their prints and mixed-media pieces in “Synthesis” reflect their use of intuitive thought processes to explore the subconscious mind through art. Their work shares a theme of manipulated perspective.
“Show Us What Ya Got” Featuring Box Factory Students Riverwalk Gallery (1st floor, ground level)
The Box Factory’s mission is to enrich our community by nurturing and celebrating the creative arts. Part of this is achieved through teaching – including drawing and watercolor, knitting, sewing, quilting, and studio artist Bob Williams’ decades-long tradition of portrait classes. “Show Us What Ya Got” is comprised of art created by students who have taken classes at the Box Factory.
“The Sky’s the Limit!” A Progressive Exhibition Skyview Gallery (3rd floor)
The “installation” of this exhibit will take place for the entire run of the show. Artists and groups are invited to create work in the gallery space, and then pin it up on a communal wall for others to enjoy. Some materials will be available, or BYO. Visit often to add to the exhibit and check out how it changes.
Visits to the Box Factory galleries are free and open to the public every Thursday to Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Box Factory for the Arts is located at 1101 Broad St. in St. Joseph, MI. For more on Box Factory events, visit boxfactoryforthearts.org or facebook.com/boxfactoryarts
