Matthew Ball, aka The Boogie Woogie Kid, will perform Saturday, October 14,
7 to 9 p.m., at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad St. in St. Joseph.
Advance tickets are $12 general admission and $15 for cabaret seating (tables in front), available
at ticketstripe.com/boogiewoogiekid. Tickets at the door are $15; no charge for children 12 and under.
Called the “fastest fingers in the Midwest!” by Press and Guide, Ball presents an
upbeat program of New Orleans song, boogie-woogie piano, and swing-
era favorites like “In The Mood,” “It Had to be You,” “Georgia,” “On The Sunny
Side of the Street,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Bumble Boogie,” and many more.
His music is an engaging event of toe-tapping piano athleticism that captures the
spirit, fun, and tradition of a celebrated American music heritage.
A lifetime Metro-Detroiter, Ball trained classically at Oakland University and has gone on to perform in
15 states and internationally. In 2020, Ball was awarded a CAFE grant in recognition of his “family
friendly” music contributions. With five million YouTube views, The Boogie Woogie Kid has
distinguished himself as an internationally recognized practitioner of classic American songs.
