Cool Down at Family-Friendly Splash Pads

The Whirlpool Compass Fountain glows in the golden light of sunset with Lake Michigan and a sailboat visible in the distance.

Southwest Michigan’s beaches are hard to beat, but there’s another popular way to cool off. Splash pads bring nonstop water fun with jets, water cannons and interactive features for all ages, from toddlers to grandparents. Even better, they’re ADA-accessible, so everyone can jump in and enjoy the fun.

Where to find the splash pad nearest you in Southwest Michigan

These parks are free to visit and typically open daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Each location asks that children are supervised by a responsible adult and that posted rules are followed to keep things safe and fun for everyone.

St. Joseph Whirlpool Compass Fountain

The largest interactive splash pad in the area, this spot is packed with ways to play. Dash through shooting water jets, splash through puddles, toss a ball or relax on the surrounding grassy berms. Every 15 minutes, water cannons send streams up to 35 feet into the air. Recently added shaded areas near the fountain and newly constructed bathrooms and changing rooms make it even easier for families to spend the day here. It’s all just steps from Silver Beach Pizza, the Silver Beach Carousel, Curious Kids' Discovery Zone, Silver Beach County Park and downtown.
