Anemel Restaurant Mural

Kimberly Wood is an artist whose work is inspired by the cover of the Tom Robbins book 'Still Life With Woodpecker'.

The book belonged to James Galbraith, the owner of Anemel, and his wife Gabrielle's grandmother.

The visual inspiration for Anemel is the playful Southwest, with references to old animations. The format of Anemel is like a loteria card, which is used for orders made at the restaurant.

The meaning behind the visuals is about the little details and how they evoke a nostalgic, dusty Southwest scene, reminiscent of favorite old cartoons. It's safe to say that James and Gabrielle are true 90’s kids at heart.
