Michigan Black Summit 2025: A Call to Action for the Black Dollar, Black Vote, and Black Leadership

The Michigan Black Summit, now in its third year, returns to Benton Harbor on February 7-8, 2025, for a transformative two-day event focused on empowering Black communities through economic development, civic engagement, and leadership. This year’s theme, "The Black Dollar, The Black Vote, and Black Leadership," will provide a platform to discuss and strategize on critical issues affecting Michigan's Black communities.
The summit will feature an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers, including:
- Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist
- Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson
- Quinten Messner from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC)
These influential leaders will join community members, activists, and experts in workshops, panels, and discussions designed to inspire change, share knowledge, and build networks.
Workshops and Panels will explore topics such as:
- Strengthening the Black economy through entrepreneurship and investment
- Mobilizing the Black vote and addressing voter suppression
- Building the next generation of Black leaders through mentorship and education
The Michigan Black Summit aims to educate, empower, and uplift attendees, offering actionable insights into how individuals and organizations can drive systemic change.
Attendees will also enjoy an elegant gala on February 8, featuring a live performance by the iconic R&B group Midnight Star and the presentation to local individuals with the John Lewis Good Trouble Awards. Join us as we celebrate the resilience and achievements of Michigan's Black communities.
