Dablon Vineyards Hosts Live Music by Marty Miles

Dablon Vineyards and Winery
111 W. Shawnee Rd
Baroda, MI 49101
Contact Name: Dablon Vineyards and Winery
2694222846

Event Date:06/29/2018

Event Description:With a serious nod to the 60’s folk/rock revolution and sensitivity to current trends, the music of Indiana artist Marty Miles is simultaneously divergent and classic. Guided by his smooth vocals and lyric songwriting, listeners can expect a musical journey through the human condition – the question of disenchantment, the crossroads of doubt, a point of faith, a moment of whimsy, a tenuous hope.   Marty Miles is much more than your basic singer, guitarist, and songwriter type. A consummate entertainer - a modern troubadour in the purest sense – he pulls you in. It’s not uncommon for the audience to become a part of the show. And, whether he’s performing solo, with his acoustic trio or full electric band, expect to hear music from his most recent CD, Folk/Rock Adventures (available on iTunes & CD Baby) and his previous albums, seamlessly woven with smart covers of likely and unlikely suspects.

Event Date:06/30/2018

Event Description:Early in 1968, a group of British musicians joined together in Luton, a town north of London, to form Jethro Tull. They began playing in pubs and clubs throughout southern England, eventually landing a standing gig at London’s famous Marquee Club in Soho. The first album, This Was, was released in late 1968, followed by Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung and Thick As a Brick. Various band members came and went, but the charismatic front man and composer, flutist and singer Ian Anderson, continued to lead the group through its various musical incarnations. By the mid-70s, Jethro Tull was one of the most successful live performing acts on the world stage, rivaling Led Zeppelin, Elton John and the Rolling Stones. Today, with over 30 albums selling more than 50 million copies, Jethro Tull continues to perform over 100 concerts each year. The lineup for the 2018 tour is Ian Anderson (flute, vocals, acoustic guitar); Florian Opahle (guitarist); Scott Hammond (drummer); John O’Hara (piano, accordion, vocals); and David Goodier (bass guitar, vocals).

Event Date:07/06/2018

Event Description:From the bombastic and epic, to the folky and mystical, Get The Led Out (GTLO) has captured the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brought it to the concert stage. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six, veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live, like you’ve never heard before. GTLO re-creates the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. When you hear three guitars on the album…GTLO delivers three guitarists on stage. No wigs or fake English accents, GTLO brings what the audience wants…a high energy Zeppelin concert with an honest, heart-thumping intensity. The band consists of Paul Sinclair - lead vocals, harmonica; Paul Hammond - electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, Theremin; Jimmy Marchiano - electric and acoustic guitars, vocals; Andrew Lipke - keyboards, guitar, vocals, percussion; Adam Ferraioli - drums, percussion; and Phil D'Agostino – bass.

Event Description:LU OVER THE WALL A Film by Masaaki Yuasa Japan, 2017, 107 min in English Recommended for ages 8 + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eN5QnoNhx0 From visionary anime auteur Masaaki Yuasa, who took over the NY festival this year with two other selections – the new rom-com Night is Short, Walk on Girl and outré classic Mind Game – comes a hallucinogenic-but-family-friendly take on the classic fairy tale of the little mermaid who falls in love with mankind, and then comes ashore to join a dysfunctional middle school rock band and propel them to fame. New kid Kai is talented but adrift, spending his days sulking and isolated in a small fishing village after his family moves from Tokyo. When he demonstrates a proficiency at making music on his synthesizer, his classmates invite him to join their nascent garage band, but their practice sessions soon bring an unexpected guest: Lu, a young mermaid whose fins turn to feet when she hears the beats, and whose singing causes humans to compulsively dance – whether they want to or not. Winner of the grand prize at Annecy, Lu Over the Wall is a toe-tapping, feel-good demonstration of Yuasa’s genre-mixing mastery that will leave you humming long after you leave the theater.

Event Date:07/20/2018

Event Description:The fourth of seven children, John Royce Mathis was born on September 30, 1935 in Gilmer, Texas. As a small boy he learned an appreciation of music from his father Clem who taught him his first song, “My Blue Heaven”. He sang in the church choir, school functions, community events, for visitors in their home as well as amateur shows in the San Francisco area. In 1954, Johnny enrolled at San Francisco State College (now called San Francisco State University). While there, Johnny set a high jump record of 6’-5 1/2”. Just as when he was in high school, Johnny’s name was frequently mentioned in the sports sections of the Northern California newspapers. While there, a fellow student brought Johnny in for a Sunday afternoon jam session at a local nightclub. It was at the Black Hawk that Helen Noga, co-owner of the club, first heard him sing. She decided that she wanted to manage his career. In early September of 1955, Johnny landed a job singing weekends at Ann Dee’s 440 Club. He continued his studies at San Francisco State and gained additional fame as a high jumper. In early 1956, Johnny was asked to attend the trials for the 1956 Olympic teams that would travel to Melbourne, Australia that summer. At the same time, Columbia Records requested that Johnny come to New York to start arrangements for his first recording session. Clem helped his son decide that his future and best interests were with the recording company. So, Johnny gave up his chance to become a member of the USA Olympic Team. He went to New York to record his first album in March of 1956.

Event Description:LIYANA Qatar, Swaziland, USA | 77 min. 2017 Recommended ages: 10 + | English & SiSwati, w/ English subtitles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEqPyQ7UKUY A Swazi girl embarks on a dangerous quest to rescue her young twin brothers. This animated African tale is born in the imaginations of five orphaned children in Swaziland who collaborate to tell a story of perseverance drawn from their darkest memories and brightest dreams. Their fictional character’s journey is interwoven with poetic and observational documentary scenes to create a genre-defying celebration of collective storytelling. An ode to the power of storytelling and the strength of the human spirit, Liyana is an uplifting, genre-defying film not to be missed. Note: while sensitively handled, film deals with challenging family histories and lingering impact of HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. Director’s Statement – LIYANA is a film that gives our young storytellers the stage. We hope the audience will be enchanted by the children’s imaginations in the same way that we are. We believe this film will play a role in deconstructing stereotypes and challenging the prevalent, simplistic narrative of African orphans. LIYANA pays tribute to my childhood in the Kingdom of Swaziland. And at its heart, the film is a meditation on the transformative power of storytelling – an ode to the creative spirit.

Event Date:09/01/2018

Event Description:Theresa Caputo is from TLC’s hit show, Long Island Medium, which follows Theresa’s life as a typical Long Island wife and mom with one very big difference…she can communicate with the dead. Since she cannot “turn off” this gift, messages from departed loved ones can come through at any time, which leads to spontaneous readings with those she encounters. During her appearance at Four Winds New Buffalo, Theresa will share personal stories about her life and explain how her gift works. She will deliver healing messages to audience members and give people comfort knowing their loved ones who passed are still with them, just in a different way. “The Experience” brings Theresa face-to-face with her fans, as she lets the spirit guide her through the audience. A video display ensures everyone in the venue has an up-close-hands-on experience regardless of seat location. “The experience isn’t about believing in mediums. It’s about witnessing something life-changing,” Theresa says. “It’s like Long Island Medium live, witnessing first-hand spirit communication.”

Contact Name: Four Winds Casino

Event Date:09/02/2018

Music Connection Magazine said: "The words ‘American Roots & Celtic Soul’ only begin to describe this unusual act, whose vocal prowess is as pure as it is unique. There is no denying the stunning vocal blends that are achieved by this duo." --- THE ACCIDENTALS have affirmed their place among contemporary music’s most original and adventurous new bands. This Michigan-based band has crafted a genre all their own, fueled by their uniquely limitless approach to musicality and songcraft. “Musically, their songs sift together folk, bluegrass, alt-rock, and even classical music.” 10 Artists to Watch in 2017 – Yahoo Music --- Known for their harmony-laced take on alt-folk, THE HUNTS are seven siblings from Chesapeake Virginia, who’ve been playing music together almost their entire lives. That unified approach infuses their music with an irresistible richness of spirit. Their songs that reveal their sophisticated sense of melody and undeniably dreamy innocence while capturing heartache and wonder with a wide-eyed but wistful elegance. Contact Name: The Box Factory for the Arts

Event Date:10/27/2018

Event Description:The Blue Water Ramblers write and sing traditional music with modern themes – the songs of Michigan, America and YOUR life. They perform wherever people want to celebrate: Festivals and concerts, paddle wheelers and lake ships, in cities and out in the woods, on stages and around campfires, at church gatherings and traditional dances. The Blue Water Ramblers’ repertoire comes right out of our Michigan life experiences and the history of the Great Lakes region. It includes lake shanties, lumberman ballads, union rallying cries, farmers’ paeans, Michigan humor, love songs, gospel music and children’s ditties. Everyone agrees that these combine into a versatile repertoire to the delight and entertainment of their audiences. “I think my hero, Woody Guthrie, would approve,” opined Banjo-Jim. “We’re singing the people’s songs about the people’s lives and they can join right in and sing along.”

Dablon Vineyards and Winery
111 W. Shawnee Rd
Baroda, MI 49101
Contact Name: Dablon Vineyards and Winery
2694222846

Event Date:11/11/2018
