Girls’ Getaway (1 Day)

Are you already wondering how you’ll make it through the week? Sounds like you could use a little getaway. Every once in a while, we all need to break away from our daily routines and responsibilities and just have a little fun! What better way to do that than to enjoy a day out with your girls? Relax at the spa; go wine tasting, catch up over dinner and dessert, or even splurge on some retail therapy. Sounds like fun, right? But who has the time to plan it?

Lucky for you, all you have to do is follow this itinerary to have a great girls’ day out in Southwest Michigan. And if you aren’t in a hurry to get back to your routine, carve out more catch-up time by staying over in our lodgings. There are more good times to enjoy tomorrow!

First Stop: Spa at Harbor Shores, 800 Whitwam Drive, St. Joseph
(4-5 hours on site with lunch)

After a long workweek, you could use a little pampering, and the Spa at Harbor Shores is the perfect start to your girls’ day adventures! From mani/pedis to facials and massage, you’ll find so many ways to unwind. Take advantage of their “Great Escape” spa package for ultimate relaxation. It includes a fifty-minute massage and facial, a manicure and a pedicure, to get you looking and feeling your best for your day on the town. If you need nourishment, lunch is also available at the spa from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

*Be sure to schedule appointments in advance and check in 30 minutes early to loosen up in the sauna and relaxation area.

Second Stop: Local Shops and Boutiques, Downtown St. Joseph
(2 hours downtown)

After relaxing at the spa, it’s time for a little retail therapy. Downtown St. Joe has a variety of shops and boutiques within walking distance to restaurants and cafes that you can stop at along the way. Check out the list of boutiques specializing in cute clothing, accessories, outdoor fun, good reads and one-of-a-kind gift choices at the St. Joseph Today site.

Third Stop: Lazy Ballerina Winery, 315 State St., St. Joseph
(1/2 hour on site)

Lazy Ballerina is the only woman-owned and operated winery in Southwest Michigan and one of only a few in the state. Melanie and Lauren have created a café-style, tasting room setting. $9 tastings include five samples of wine or cider, a decadent chocolate truffle from Patricia's Chocolate and a Lazy Ballerina stemless wine glass to take home. Be sure to ask how the winery got its name!

The White Pine Winery tasting room is located in the midst of downtown shops and boutiques. They feature some of Southwest Michigan’s finest wines, with a variety of reds and whites ensuring that everyone will find something they like. Tastings are only $8 for 6 wines, so come and sample the Southwest and find the perfect wine for you!

Fourth Stop: The Bistro on the Boulevard, 521 Lake Boulevard, St. Joseph
(1-1/2 to 2 hours on site)

After wine tasting, you’ll probably be ready to enjoy a delicious dinner. The Bistro on the Boulevard is the place to go. They prepare delicious dishes made fresh from local ingredients and offer an exceptional dining experience. The Bistro has also been awarded “Region’s Best Fine Dining Restaurant” by Shore Magazine and Wine Spectators award of excellence for “one of the best restaurant wine lists in the world,” so you may want to take a glance at their drink menu. Also, don’t forget to save room for dessert!

*Don’t skip the shareables. The Bistro Tapas Plate is a must!

There you have it. A girl’s day getaway already planned for you. Now, all that’s left to do is grab your girls and head to St. Joseph, Michigan!
