Round Barn Winery & Estate

AN EXTRAORDINARY PLACE TO ENJOY CRAFT WINE, BEER & SPIRITS

Drive through the lush vineyards stretching from Lake Michigan to Baroda and you will arrive at one of the most extraordinary stops along the Southwest Michigan Makers Trail. When the Moersch family found the turn-of-the-20th-century Amish round barn in Indiana, they fell under its enchanting spell. They purchased it and piece by piece tore it down and rebuilt it in their family’s 85-acre vineyards, knowing it would enchant you, too.

GATHER ROUND TO TASTE LIQUID ARTISTRY ALL YEAR LONG

When you want to unwind or be with family and friends, you look for a place that caters to everyone’s tastes. Round Barn Winery & Estate does this with natural ease. Ever since it opened in 1992, it has expanded its exceptional tasting choices to include dry, sweet and fruit wines, sangrias, creams, craft beers, cocktails, gin, vodka and bourbon.

But Round Barn doesn’t just pour flights and glasses of their liquid art in its charming tasting room. Gather outdoors on the vineyard lawn or enjoy the privacy of a reserved cabana or on their deck overlooking the vineyards. Heated igloos and fire pits give you special places to be with each other surrounded by the vineyards’ wintry beauty, too.

THIS IS ONE OF USA TODAY’S 10BEST WINERIES AND VINEYARDS WITH LIVE MUSIC

You will instantly know why this winery made the country’s top 10 list when you attend any of its Jammin’ in the Vineyard summer weekends or outdoor festivals. Regional musicians play acoustic, rock, country, R&B and more to get you on your feet sipping, singing and dancing.

The vineyard lawn walk-up bar takes your drink and food orders so you don’t miss a beat. Bring a chair or blanket to ensure a seat — there’s plenty of room to stake your spot amid other music lovers.

SIP AND HIKE ON MT. TABOR TRAILS

These vineyards grow in such a gorgeous area, it would be a shame not to share them with you. Round Barn has made almost 3.5 miles of trails that loop through the vineyards and woods between the Estate and Tabor Hill Winery. Purchase your favorite to-go beverage and food from the tasting room and hike, or in winter, snowshoe, Mt. Tabor Trails. Everyone is welcome, including children (Round Barn offers non-alcoholic beverages, too) and leashed pets. You do not need to make reservations and there is no limit to the number of people on the trails, so invite your family, friends and coworkers to spend time with you in this tranquil setting.

STAY OVER IN THE VINEYARDS

If you long to stay a few days immersed in the vineyards, that is possible, too. The Estate House is only steps away from the barn and welcomes up to eight guests. There are other hotels and lodgings just down the road.
