The St. Joseph River, Michigan's second largest river, offers medium-fast to quiet waters for boaters. It runs through Buchanan, Berrien Springs, Niles and St. Joseph-Benton Harbor in Berrien County. The Galien River quietly flows from Galien to New Troy, through Warren Woods State Park and past Union Pier into Lake Michigan.
